Unmind Product Spotlight: Calendar Reminders

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Friday 19 March marks World Sleep Day, an annual celebration of all things sleep. At Unmind, we're devoting the whole week to understanding the science behind sleep, why it's been a challenge for many of us lately, and how we can all get a better night's worth.

We've experienced disruption in many areas of our lives recently, not least our sleep. In abruptly changing our routines to protect our physical health, we've opened ourselves up to new stressors.

Stressors that often go unnoticed during the day – but come out at night.

Millions of people around the world have experienced new or exacerbated challenges to their sleep as a direct result of the pandemic. This comes at a time when we most need our resilience to cope with regular change, to shift gears comfortably, and to navigate ambiguity.

In determining our day-to-day mood, 8 hours – or whatever your sweet spot – of sleep is up there with factors like blood sugar, how much water we’ve drunk, what we’ve eaten, and whether we’ve exercised. Without it, we're less able to physically and mentally cope with the demands of life.

"

Almost half (46%) of the Unmind team describe their relationship with sleep as 'complicated'

This is why it’s time to tune back into sleep, and understand what we need right now to help us truly switch off. With this fundamental layer of wellbeing in place, we're better able to embrace the world and thrive no matter what comes our way.

What we've got planned

Few things in life are more satisfying than a good night's sleep.

Sadly, it doesn't always happen. We asked our team about their relationship with sleep. Almost half (46%) described it as ‘complicated’. If this sounds like you, we might just have a solution.

On 18 March, we'll be joined by Professor of Sleep, Jason Ellis, to discuss why the last year has been so tough on our sleep, and to explore the things we can all do to improve the quality of our sleep.
